THANK GOD ALMIGHTY THAT WE HAVE FREEDOM OF FAITH IN THE LORD JESUS IN AMERICA

ONE OF THE WONDERFUL THINGS ABOUT LIVING IN AMERICA IS THAT WE HAVE THE FREEDOM TO EXPRESS OUR FAITH IN THE LORD JESUS AND OUR ALMIGHTY HEAVENLY FATHER AND IT IS THAT FREEDOM OF FAITH THAT THREATENS OTHER COUNTRIES WHERE THAT FREEDOM DOES NOT EXIST AND THERE IS PERSECUTION FOR EXPRESSING THE CHRISTIAN FAITH. WHY IS THE CHRISTIAN FAITH SO MUCH MORE THREATENING TO THESE COUNTRIES THAN OTHER BELIEFS IN GOD? COULD IT BE BECAUSE THEY SENSE THAT THERE IS A GREAT TRUTH TO JESUS (THE GREAT I AM) AND THAT HE COULD RETURN ANY DAY IN FULL GLORY TO BRING PEACE, JUSTICE, TRUTH AND GRACIOUSNESS TO THE WORLD? COULD IT BE BECAUSE JESUS CHRIST IS TRULY THE HOPE OF NATIONS WHERE OPPRESSION AND SUPPRESSION EXIST? THE HOPE OF ALL NATIONS. I BELIEVE VERY MUCH SO. JESUS IS STILL ALIVE TO THIS DAY AND HE AND OUR ALMIGHTY HEAVENLY FATHER CARE VERY MUCH ABOUT OUR BROKEN AND HURTING WORLD. THEY HAVE NOT FORGOTTEN US, AND THEIR LOVE FOR US AND POWER IS BEYOND OUR COMPREHENSION. THERE WILL COME A DAY WHEN THIS WORLD IS RESTORED TO PEACE, LOVE AND COMPASSION, IN THE GLORIOUS AND POWERFUL NAME OF JESUS CHRIST, LORD AND SAVIOR OF THE WORLD. LOVE ALWAYS, DIANE

WE NEED A NATIONAL CONVERSATION ABOUT FAITH IN AMERICA AND WHAT IT MEANS TO BE A CHRISTIAN

We need a national conversation about faith in America and what it means to be a Christian and have faith in the Lord, Jesus Christ.  Jesus gave the commandment that we should love our neighbors as ourselves and that means, by my understanding, that we love and welcome people even when they are not of the Christian faith like ourselves and do not yet understand what the Christian faith is all about and how it offers grace to them from a loving Heavenly Father and Jesus' loving sacrifice of his life on the cross.  Jesus did not just come to this earth to save and redeem a select group of people, he came to this earth for all of humanity to be healed, redeemed and restored through faith in what Jesus did on the cross to graciously forgive us of our sins and mistakes.  We are all in need of healing, forgiveness and redemption, and the world that we live in today desperately needs the healing, love, forgiveness and compassion of Jesus Christ.  And then, on Pentecost, Jesus sent his Holy Spirit to live through us and do good and loving works of healing, seeking justice for the oppressed, caring for the sick, defending the weak and afflicted, providing for the impoverished, sharing the loving Good News of the Gospels and a variety of other acts that Our Heavenly Father wants for us as Christians to do in building a better, more loving, gracious and compassionate world of faith, hope and love for humanity.  Our Heavenly Father and Lord Jesus do not want us to judge one another because Jesus did not come into this world to condemn the world but rather to lovingly and graciously save it.  And we need leaders in this country who are filled up with the Holy Spirit and working to lovingly and compassionately bring justice, peace, healing and hope to this hurting, broken and divided nation.  LOVE ALWAYS, DIANE

WE NEED LEADERS OF FAITH AND COMPASSION IN AMERICA, VERY MUCH SO

WE ARE ALL FLAWED IN SOME WAY BUT THE BEAUTY OF WHAT JESUS DID ON THE CROSS FOR US IS THAT WE ARE MADE FLAWLESS AND FORGIVEN THROUGH OUR FAITH. WE HAVE A HEAVENLY FATHER AND HE LOVES US SO MUCH THAT HE SENT HIS ONLY SON, JESUS, TO BEAR THE BURDENS OF OUR SINS AND FLAWS AND GRACIOUSLY AND COMPASSIONATELY FORGIVE US. OUR HEAVENLY FATHER IS GRACIOUS TO US AND IT IS ONLY RIGHT THAT WE BE GRACIOUS AND FORGIVING TO OTHERS. IN THE MEDIA TODAY, THERE IS A LACK OF GRACIOUSNESS TOWARDS THE CANDIDATES, WHO ARE ONLY FLAWED HUMANS LIKE OURSELVES. I AM TIRED OF ATTACK POLITICS BECAUSE IT ONLY HURTS PEOPLE AND IT IS VERY UNCOMPASSIONATE AND UNLOVING. THE MEDIA TOTALLY DISTRACTS US FROM LOOKING AT THE POLITICIANS WHO ARE THE MOST COMPASSIONATE AND LOVING AND HAVE THE BIGGEST HEARTS (LIKE SANDERS). THERE IS SO MUCH THAT IS BROKEN IN THE MEDIA AND IN POLITICS TODAY AND WE NEED LEADERS WHO CARE AND HAVE COMPASSION AND HAVE FAITH. NO MORE STONE THROWING, PLEASE. LOVE ALWAYS, DIANE

HILLARY CLINTON'S FAITH

https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/acts-of-faith/wp/2016/07/26/hillary-clintons-history-of-faith-is-long-and-rich-this-week-she-should-talk-about-it/

Hillary Clinton’s history of faith is long and rich. This week, she should talk about it.

When Hillary Clinton takes the stage in Philadelphia this week, she has a unique opportunity to speak to a nation engaged in collective soul-searching. As the Christian right has evidently vacated all pretense of seeking a candidate who embodies Christian values, Clinton can step into the space that they have vacated. She can pledge to be the candidate who will be guided by her faith.

She is has deep religious roots that she can draw on.

Coming of age in the 1960s, Clinton turned to theology to make sense of the political and social turmoil unfolding around her. She read theologians Paul Tillich, Dietrich Bonhoeffer and Reinhold Niebuhr as she wrestled with how Christians ought to engage the world, pursue justice and reform society.

[Here’s what we know about Hillary Clinton’s quiet faith]

In recent weeks and months, Clinton has returned to her United Methodist roots on the campaign trail. In February, as she celebrated her victory in the South Carolina primary and began to pivot to the general election, she countered Donald Trump’s politics of division by turning to Scripture. In contrast with Trump, who had fumbled an effort to quote “two Corinthians,” she centered her call for unity in 1 Corinthians 13: “Love never fails. … Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.”

Clinton acknowledged that it might sound odd for a presidential candidate to be calling for “more lovingkindness in America,” but she insisted that these were “words to live by, not only for ourselves, but also for our country.” And earlier this month, in the aftermath of the killing of five police officers in Dallas, Clinton spoke to the African Methodist Episcopal Church’s general conference in Philadelphia. Borrowing from the book of Proverbs, she implored her audience to listen to one another, to seek common ground, to “incline our ears to wisdom and apply our hearts to understanding.”

“This is about our country,” she said. “And I think it’s about our faith.” Then she quoted again from 1 Corinthians. And she concluded with a charge from Paul’s letter to the Galatians: “Let us not grow weary in doing good.”

[Donald Trump’s incorrect claim that the public doesn’t know ‘anything about Hillary in terms of religion’]

This isn’t the first campaign where Clinton has enveloped her politics in Christian theology. And if history is a guide, cynics are sure to cry foul. In the past when Clinton has spoken of her faith, she has often been perceived as inauthentic or accused of political pandering.

But for Clinton, from the 1960s to her years in her husband’s White House to her own campaigns for the presidency, faith has always been a touchstone.

Take an early moment in her husband’s presidency. The first 75 days in the White House had bordered on disastrous for the Clintons. As first lady, she was struggling to find her footing as she pressed forward with health care reform, while fending off investigations into her Arkansas financial dealings and persistent rumors of her husband’s infidelities. Most poignantly, her father lay on his deathbed.

[God might not want a woman to be president, some religious conservatives say]

She was grasping for spiritual mooring for herself, and for the nation, when she spoke to an audience of 14,000 at the University of Texas Field House in Austin. There she spoke of “the rumblings of discontent” sounding beneath the economic prosperity, political freedom and triumphant democracy of the post-Cold War world.

“We lack at some core level meaning in our individual lives and meaning collectively — that sense that our lives are part of some greater effort, that we are connected to one another, that community means that we have a place where we belong no matter who we are,” she said.

“We need a new politics of meaning,” she announced in the most memorable phrase from the speech. “We need a new ethos of individual responsibility and caring. We need a new definition of civil society … that fills us up again and makes us feel that we are part of something bigger than ourselves.”

Clinton’s call resonated with those present. But the national media had a field day ridiculing the first lady’s “psychobabble.”

Unrelenting investigations into White House practices certainly didn’t enhance her moral authority. The religious right refused to join her in a spiritual quest, and the secular left mocked her desire to embark on one. Clinton became more guarded, it seems, about speaking from her soul.

Now, she finds herself once again poised to offer a compelling spiritual vision to the nation. Like then, she is dogged by allegations of dishonesty and corruption. But the utter collapse of good faith on the religious right offers her an unprecedented opportunity to proclaim her progressive Christianity to a nation badly in need of hope.

“Part of the great challenge of living is defining yourself in your moment,” Clinton told those gathered in Austin more than two decades ago. This is her moment to redefine herself, and her campaign. She can do so by drawing on the faith she has always harbored.

WE NEED LEADERS OF FAITH AND INTEGRITY IN AMERICA RIGHT NOW

FAITH IS SUCH A BEAUTIFUL THING. WE NEED PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATES WHO HAVE FAITH IN THE LORD JESUS -- SOMEONE LIKE CONDOLISA JOHNSON OR COLIN JOHNSON WHO HAVE BOTH SPOKEN OPENLY ABOUT THEIR FAITH. THESE ARE PEOPLE OF CHARACTER AND INTEGRITY WHO WE NEED TO LEAD THIS NATION. IT IS SUCH A DISAPPOINTMENT THAT JOHNSON AND JOHNSON HAVE NOT STEPPED FORWARD AS PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATES.  HILLARY CLINTON HAS SPOKEN OPENLY ABOUT HER FAITH. THIS NATION WAS BUILT ON FAITH IN THE LORD JESUS CHRIST AND THAT IS ON OUR DOLLAR BILL -- IN GOD WE TRUST. IT IS SUCH A SHAME THAT THE MEDIA NEVER TOUCHES UPON ISSUES OF FAITH AND QUESTIONS THE CANDIDATES ABOUT THEIR FAITH IN THE LORD. BECAUSE THE TRUTH OF THE MATTER IS THAT JESUS IS COMING BACK SOON AND THE WHOLE WORLD IS GOING TO BE CHANGED FOR THE BETTER. WHAT IS HAPPENING IN POLITICS RIGHT NOW IS TRIVIAL COMPARED WITH THE PLANS THAT THE ALMIGHTY HEAVENLY FATHER HAS FOR US AND THE EARTH. IN JESUS' BEAUTIFUL, GLORIOUS AND HOLY NAME. LOVE ALWAYS, DIANE
